With the 49th National Athletic Directors Conference in the books, we wanted to thank everyone who stopped by to see us this year in San Antonio. It’s always great to get together with old friends and customers, meet new people, put faces to names, and talk about the latest and greatest in our industry.
It’s a new year, and with that comes new year’s resolutions. Hey, we’ve all made them. Some are easy to keep. Most are easy to break. You see it every year — the campus gym fills to the brink with newbie exercisers every January, but by March, only the fitness die-hards are left. Good thing your athletes have their own weight room, right?
College signing days have changed significantly in the last few years. What used to be an event recognized by a local newspaper is now covered by a national media audience online and across social media. Within hours of the start of National Letter of Intent Day, fans can quickly and easily track their favorite recruits. Within 24 hours hundreds of fans are reviewing and ranking the recruiting classes of their favorite and rival schools.
Starting an athletic hall of fame from scratch can feel like a daunting process. Each school has their own way to get it started and they each have their own unique challenges. Common questions for a program to get started include: “Who gets in?”, “How often do we induct?”, and “What is the process for collecting the necessary information?”.
Working with high schools and colleges on a daily basis makes it clear how proud they are of their students and alumni. And it’s easy to see why — student-athletes are breaking records, winning championships, and adding to the tradition of these institutions.
