Dry Erase Boards

The difference between good football teams and the best programs comes down to the little things. Doing the little things right include maximizing your offseason training. There are a handful of activities that every great football team does from winter through summer. Here are five offseason tips to help bring your team into the conversation of the most elite programs.
Your season is over, but there isn’t time to rest on your laurels. Successful teams aren’t afforded the time to pat themselves on the back or wallow in self-pity about underperformance, unfair calls or injuries. There are only so many days until the next season. Make the most of this time by avoiding these common offseason strength and conditioning mistakes.
Athletic directors are no stranger to long hours. Managing the athletic schedule means that ADs have to balance the needs of coaches, student athletes, parents and fans, which can be cumbersome and overwhelming. The key to doing this efficiently lies in working smarter rather than harder. Better organization becomes invaluable as you work to stay on track.
Sometimes it’s not good enough to simply tell your players what you would like them to do. 65% of the population consists of visual learners. Meaning they absorb and recall information best when they see images and demonstrations. Coaches that rely too heavily on lecture are missing an opportunity to reach over half of their team with a more effective approach.
Locker rooms are no longer simply a place to dress for a game, it’s a second home to most athletes. It’s a place to celebrate wins, reflect on losses and build friendships that last a lifetime. Your school locker room should reflect your program’s tradition, it’s season-long goals and who you aspire to be as a program on and off the field. Traditionally, only the top-tier programs have been able to accomplish this in cool and unique ways. Not anymore.
