Poly Fabric: The Ideal Material for Gym Banners

Posted by  Ryan Willi on 06/12/2017

Anyone who has been involved in athletics, even just as a fan, is familiar with the traditional rows of championship banners that adorn the gym walls of high schools and universities. Most people however, have probably given very little thought to the construction and materials used in the banners hanging in their gymnasium.

There are several options available when considering new banners for your facility including traditional vinyl, rigid sign-style PVC or aluminum, as well as a variety of fabric options. We are going to take a look at our best-selling, most popular banner material, Poly Fab.

This unique fabric is the primary choice of athletic directors and coaches because of its superior durability. Poly Fab is a 100% polyester weave fabric, featuring a high 600-denier thread count synonymous with sturdy and durable fabrics. This excellent strength-to-weight ratio and natural wrinkle-resistance allows Poly Fab banners to hang nice and flat on the wall of a gym.

Poly Fab gym banners offer a premium look and feel, very similar look to older-style felt banners, but without the hassle. Once they become dusty and dingy, felt banners typically need to be taken down and sent out to be professionally cleaned and refurbished. Poly Fab features an invisible acrylic coating that repels dust rather than attracting it, ensuring little-to-no future maintenance. If they ever do need to be cleaned, they can be simply wiped down with a damp cloth.

Another big selling point of Poly Fab material is it comes standard with a non-reflective, matte finish. This is especially important in an environment that is primarily lit with fluorescent lighting like most athletic facilities. Many gym banner materials, especially some vinyls, do little to protect against excessive glare making the banners less attractive, and more importantly, difficult to read.

The attention to detail does not stop with the materials selection. All Poly Fab banners are digitally printed using UV print technology ensuring crisp images and text, exceptional color and a durable finish. Next, all Poly Fab banners receive folded and sewn edges and are finished with a choice of grommets or pole pockets for final installation.

Material choice can make all the difference when it comes time to replace your gym banners. While each option has its specific advantages and disadvantages, Poly Fab stands out from the rest with a combination of durability, maintenance needs and overall aesthetics.
