In high school, I had a coach who would always say “If you’re on time, then you’re late.” At first thought, this may not seem to make much sense, but he was trying to share a very important message with his players: show up early, be prepared to play, and make the best use of your time.
Over the past 11 years, Team Fitz Graphics has grown from a few college friends with an idea to a sustainable, thriving business. The past 12 months have been a thrilling, formative ride, as the idea we started with more than a decade ago has taken shape in the great work we do with our clients.
Back in July 2015, the Madeira Planning Commission unanimously approved a new fitness center and weight room facility to be built attached to the existing Madeira High School. The 4,000 square foot project was originally estimated to cost the district $500,000. By January 2017, a brand new 6,000 square foot facility had been built costing the school district virtually nothing—just the price of the building permit. The entire project had been built through personally donated funds, materials, and labor.
The majority of weight rooms are strictly business. Rows of weights, racks, and machines line the mirrored walls, black rubberized flooring, beige walls, etc. The traditional philosophy has been to ‘get in, work hard, and get out.’ While this utilitarian template has worked well enough in the past, it can lead to uninspired workouts where athletes simply go through the motions.
We’ve all heard the old quote about complacency being the enemy of progress. As a business this is something we take to heart. The world of athletic graphics is moving at lightning pace with each program pushing to outdo their competitors. Our goal is to find and embrace the latest materials and techniques that propel our product line forward.
