The Worland Aquatic Center located in Wyoming has been providing a fun and safe environment for competitive swimming for many years. So when they trusted us design and manufacture a new natatorium record board for their facility we were very excited about the project. As with most projects the most difficult part was figuring out the design and record board style that would provide the best look, viewing distance and ease of updating records.
Unlike many of the swimming record boards that we send out, they wanted to recognize the top six records of each event. Typically our swim record boards display only the top placer in a specific event. Along with displaying the top six placers, they also needed to have a viewing distance of at least 50 feet. Thankfully we did not have any size constraints to the board, as they had plenty of wall space to work with. However making the board too large would put the record board project out of budget. 
Choosing the appropriate style of record board was fairly simple, our natatorium record boards are very easy to update and they give us a blank slate to create a design that will meet all of the project specifications and needs of our client. Another unique aspect of the natatorium record board is the grand sizes available. In order to have a 50 foot viewing distance we needed a font height of at least 1.5” tall for the records. Right away, we knew the board was going to need to be large. During the design phase it was decided that a 20’x10’ record board was the appropriate size that would meet all the design requirements from our client.
Typically our swim record boards display the athlete name, year the record was broken and the time or score. In order to save space and keep the board within the project budget it was decided by our client to not include the year each record was broken. This gave us all the space we needed to create a design that will inspire Worland Aquatic swimmers and divers to push harder to beat the records of the past.
