Sycamore Community Schools is a large school district in Cincinnati, Ohio. They approached us seeking a signage solution to a problem that most schools face today. Sycamore Community Schools have seven schools in their district, each at a different location. There was a need for consistent outdoor campus signs at each school, clearly indicating reserved parking spaces, visitor parking, and other campus directional signs. All of the signs needed to clearly communicate a specific message, while also maintaining district brand guidelines.

We determined a post and panel sign system would best fit the needs of the district. Post and panel signs are durable, built specifically for exterior installations and mirror signage typically seen on college and hospital campuses.

Team Fitz started by having the posts and panels custom painted beige to match existing signage. Graphics were then applied to the panels including the district logo, “Our Students. Our Future.” tagline and the necessary navigation information unique to each sign. Following the brand guidelines of the district, Team Fitz designers used forest green and gold graphics along with white reflective lettering to allow for increased visibility, even at night.

This type of signage has an easy installation process, which was performed by the district’s internal maintenance staff. Each sign started with either one or two vertical posts. These 2.25” square aluminum posts were installed 3’ deep to provide a strong base below the frost line. The sign panels were then easily mounted onto posts with included hardware.

When looking for free-standing outdoor signage, a post and panel system provides the strongest and best looking solution. This system can easily be adapted across facilities to create a uniform look from location to location.
